How it all began
So I am not usually one to journal, blog, write down my thoughts…
I thought maybe I should for my business though because It will allow me to go back and remember my journey, and maybe even share my journey and help someone else someday.
So my photography journey sort of started when I was about fourteen or fifteen years old when the photography teacher allowed me and a friend of mine to go photograph and video a JV Football game in high school. I had a blast but I didn’t really pursue it much after that.
Years passed, and I continued on through life. Got my first smart phone when I could afford to buy it myself at eighteen years old and I took photos randomly with my phone of different things, usually abstract style and landscape. Never really of people. I have a deep love for landscape art, whether it be paintings, drawings, chalk art, or photography, it doesn’t matter, I love all things landscape.
Well, that was my thing, If I got my camera out it was because I wanted to capture a golden or purple California sunset or a beautiful mountain side.
Now, fast forward to November of 2020..(wasn’t that quite the year…) Anyway, I had been talking to my husband for a very long time about how I wanted a nice DSLR. I didn’t know much about them, I knew how to take pictures. I knew how to compose an image in my mind. I knew how to bring a vision to life. I just didn’t know how to work a “fancy” camera. Well for an early Christmas gift, my sweet husband surprised me with my very first DSLR, and with a little help from his amazing sister who has been a photographer for about 15 years or so (if you’re in Utah you need to look up Cherie Oliver she is AMAZING) he was able to get two prime lenses (50mm f1.8 and 24mm f2.8) from her that she no longer used and he found me a Nikon D7200 from Adorama that was basically like new that only had less than about 1000 shutter count on it with NO ISSUES. MIND BLOWN.
So, he surprises me with this camera and he already knows how to use it because if you know anything about him, he is insanely smart. He is a pilot after all, he kind of has to be. That and he has studied photography before so he had some background that helped him to help me.
So he starts teaching me and I start watching a TON of youtube videos and I just kept learning and learning and practicing and practicing. (btw if you are looking for a YouTube page to follow for photography guidance - Tony and Chelsea Northrup are full of useful information)
A year or so later we planned a cross country RV trip to see family in Utah (we live in Florida - for those of you who don’t know that) I took the camera with me in hopes of documenting our trip and taking jaw dropping, eye catching landscape and wildlife photos as well as memories for our family.
Well, I did just that and as I began to post these images (October 2021) I had inquiries left and right from people wanting me to take their family photos, and take photos for work events and that is how I decided to start Dani P. Photo.
Within three ONLY THREE days of gathering all of these inquiries, I built a website, built my online social media platforms, opened a new email, along with other business things I needed to do, (scheduling, contracts, etc…) and from there, Dani P. Photo was formed. I have continued to strive and move forward. I am now an LLC and have shot weddings and engagement shoots. I have maternity shoots coming up and other events. I am so excited to see where Dani P. Photo LLC goes and I hope you enjoy following along the journey.
Here’s to the future and success!
